The XXXVII Settimana Enologica is a week-long festival that celebrates the most popular wine born in Montefalco - Sagrantino. The festival is normally held around the month of September.
The festival consists of the presentation of the new year of Sagrantino where you will be able to enjoy partaking of a scrumptious preview. Stroll along the roads of Montefalco with a wine walking tour to visit the many wine cellars of the area and experience their superb wines, walk through the vineyards, and soak up the beauty that only this region of Italy has to offer.
Many other festive events all centered on the grape harvest and the delectable grape products including wine can be found throughout Montefalco.
You will enjoy the opening ceremony, which will introduce not only the beginning of the festival but also the delectable wine of the year. Then you will be able to join the wine walking tour through a tree lined avenue and participate in a delightful meal at Jeunes Restaurant with of course an exquisite glass of vintage Sagrantino wine.
Throughout the entire festival, you will enjoy learning about the history local wine production including the way in which they create these exquisite raisin wines.
Every day holds a new tour and a walk down an ancient path to a beautiful vineyard and awesome wine cellar. You will love taking the guided tours or venture off on your own to discover the countryside, the vineyards, and savor the delightful wines of the region. Many of the tours give you a chance to step back into history not only through the beauty and architectural design of the medieval churches but also through the adventure of tasting vintage wines of the past.
