Travel Deals:

Does your Travel Website tell you the Whole Story about your Air Travel Deal?

An airtravel deal isn't just about what you pay for your ticket; what does one say about a ticket that's worth what you paid for it? Certainly when you need to fly, you want a reasonably low-priced ticket, and a nonstop flight would be preferable; but the other half to getting a "deal"would be getting some quality for your money - getting legroom, convenient times, and efficiency in baggage delivery. Now what if there was a flight search service that could actually look up deals for you in the fullest sense of the term - not just something that could shave $50 off your ticket price?

There is one now; it's been testing for a couple of years now, and has finally launched, ready for prime time. It's called InsideTrip.com; and it is a service that searchers and ranks airline deals on 12 quality parameters. InsideTrip works in partnership with Orbitz; when you search on InsideTrip for an airtravel deal, it supplies you with the best overall deal it can find with its information from Orbitz, and quality information from its own research; and then it will send you over to Orbitz to buy a ticket, when you have made your choice.

The information you get on InsideTrip is delightfully more complete than anything you'd find anywhere elsewhere. As you would do on any other flight booking website, you pick the route you want to travel and the number of travelers you need to buy tickets for. There are a couple of extra fields that appear here too: how many bags you expect to need to bring to check in, and what you expect to eat or drink on the flight (these will be added to the ticket price so you have a better idea what you will end up paying). Actually, to add on all charges you will be expected to shell out, is a pretty good idea. Once it has everything it needs, it puts out a regular list of all the flights they have, with ticket prices and flight quality ratings - your total air travel deal.

Flights are rated on how long they take, how punctual they are, how long you need to wait at security check to be waved through, the kind of aircraft they have, how crowded the flight is, and the convenience of how close the departure gate is. Whatever parameter is important to you, you can make sure that the system weighs it that much higher than the others. The airtravel deal system just got a whole lot more sophisticated; with the summer travel season upon us, travelers making travel bookings have no way of knowing through the traditional websites what kind of travel horrors they'll be subjecting their families to.

Here is an indication of how anxious people are for such a service - in the two years the service was in beta, millions of travelers used the incomplete system they had to gather information and make bookings. It'sis a great way to avoid all the aggravations modern airtravel has saddled us with; so technology has finally found a way out of a problem technology created in the first place.

Cheap Flight Tickets:

Working all the Intertnet Services out there for Cheap Flight Tickets

As easy as the Internet and all related technology are supposed to have made our lives, conceptually, things are much harder to get a grasp of these days. It used to be that if you needed to go across the Atlantic, all you needed to do was to call up a travel agency, tell them how much you were willing to spend and what dates you were willing to work with, and before long, there would be a real physical ticket headed your way and it would be worth a real sum of money too. And when travel found the Internet, at first, things only got better. There was maybe Expedia and maybe Travelocity to help get you a reasonable deal, and you were happy to take it feeling grand to have travel-agent tools in the palm of your hand. If you were lucky, you even got a proper ticket in the mail soon. Internet travel has been furiously working at finding ways to cut prices for a decade now though and cheap flight tickets are a reality in a way that could not have been possible back then. But the price we pay for it in other ways!

The two grand old players are still around, but they are surrounded by literally dozens of other Internet travel websites working very hard to make all our collective decision-making lives a living hell. There is Kayak, CheapTickets, Mobissimo - just too many to list. So if all you want is a set of cheap flight tickets to get from A to B, how do you work the system without feeling guilty over any steps you left out or feeling bad about how crazy all of it is driving you? Let me share with you the system I use myself when I need to go about the country or outside on business or pleasure. Let's take a simple trip from New York, out to the beaches of Miami where it should be nice and warm now. I like to start out with my rooting around at Kayak; this one is a meta-search engine - that is to say, it checks out all the other notable travel sites out there to report to me about. It also has a really minimalist layout, and no bombardment of advertising all over the place. As minimal as it is, it also gives me a few really good choices: for instance, I can specify what city I would prefer to have my layover at and also lets me specify my choice of frequent flier plan to use.

So the moment I make my first attempt for my cheap flight tickets, I get two search windows from Expedia and Priceline; I have a quote for $328 all included, on American and it seems pretty reasonable. And it's just as well, because with my membership, I can get free checked baggage. But I'd just like to see what else the deep dark world of the Internet has in store for me, and I turn to ITASoftware.com. This website is not your bright and cheerful user friendly kind. You can't even buy your tickets here - just learn about the fares. It is kind of impenetrable and makes you wonder if it was designed for some kind of travel professional. In fact the way it looks, Iwouldn't be surprised if on some back page, I found some special supersecret inside tips that only travel agents would otherwise know. It doesn't really have any news for me other than to save me five dollars on the same flight I found on Priceline. The kind of hoops I will jump through for a couple of cheap flight tickets!

I think that at this time, I should turn my attention to cFares.com (does the c stand for Cheap?). This happens to a members-only website. You pay them a $50 membership for the year, and for each ticket you buy through them, it will shave about $20 off. Sometimes, you can get really lucky with them - last time on a trip to Asia, I found a fare here that was a full $150 cheaper than anywhere else. Anyway right now, cFares isn't willing to be any more generous than to knock it down to $301 - for a flight on Continental. They don't even say anything about the American flight I saw before on Expedia. Still, that's pretty good compared to what the others are willing to give me. Now I'm just about ready to buy, except that I have a little niggling doubt - what if a couple of days after I buy, the fares fall $50? Is there any way to tell which way the fares are headed in the near future? For us fans of cheap flight tickets, they do have such a service, and it's called Yapta.com (there is competitor called for Forecast.com, but that has been bought out by Bing).

Actually, Yapta feels that the prices will go down $18 in two days, so I think I'll wait. If I wanted to fly international, I first head for Vayama. They have lots of deals no one else in the world has. But of course when you fly long-distance like this, there is always the calculus of whether getting a cheap flight would make more sense than getting a slightly more expensive flight with lots of frequent flyer miles. Other than that, I would be happier flying on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when most of the time, the airlines charge a little less for some inexplicable reason. Somehow, going for the cheap flight tickets on these scientifically designed bargain-hunting websites doesn't always make all the sense. As much as these are a great way to find a low cost of flight, you don't always get all the special deals airlines have in mind, and you don't get your frequent flyer miles either. And sometimes, when the computers get it all wrong, at the airport, the clerk won't be able to blame it on some travel website.

Cheap Vacations:

With the economy in shambles, vacation plans are changing by the second. The lazy and carefree extended beach trips are being threatened. Family trips on cruise lines or to amusement parks are being cancelled left and right. Instead of splurging on the more luxurious vacations, people are opting for cheap vacations. However, before you rule out any sort of fun whatsoever for the upcoming allotted family time, there are some cheap vacations that aren’t just easy on your wallet, but are excellent ways to bond with your family as well. When people think of cheap vacations, they tend to think about the fact that it means not being able to order room service or having endless amounts of drinks delivered poolside. Sure, you may not be able to live like royalty during this time of economic struggle, but you can certainly take advantage of lots of other ways to spend time with your friends and family.

Cheap vacations can consist of simply camping out at a local campground, just to get away from home. For those with small children and who love the great outdoors, doing exactly that may be acceptable. There is a lot to be said for setting up a tent and spending time in nature – fishing, hiking and sitting around a campfire each evening. For those who prefer to not spend time with the pesky insects that come along with the outdoorsy types of cheap vacations, spend some time figuring out exactly what you want to do. When you have a specific plan, it is quite a bit easier to figure out where, when and exactly how much you need to spend.

The key to finding cheap vacations is being flexible. When you’re willing to compromise and exercise flexibility, you may be pleasantly surprised as to what you’re able to accomplish. If you’re determined to spend time away from home and it will require overnight accommodations, adjust your time away to only be weekday stays. Starting your getaway on a Sunday night and leaving on a Friday morning can save you several hundred dollars as you’ll be avoiding the most popular and most expensive weekend nights.

Weekend nights are notorious for sometimes costing double or triple the rates during peak tourist seasons. This theory of simply traveling during the week also holds true for airfare. Spend some time talking to the airlines to see what the best deals happen to be. A lot of times, if you leave on a weekday, the rates will be more reasonable. When planning cheap vacations, you may find that cutting out the middle man is more cost effective. While a lot of people like to utilize travel agents, the fact is, you can end up paying more than you’d like for their services.

Take some time to do your own research and make your own phone calls. Sometimes, it’s the best way to find the best deals. By being flexible, you could find that this year’s vacation could cost a lot less than last year’s vacation. By cutting out some of the luxuries, such as room service, you will find that there is a lot more money in your wallet at the end of any getaways that you make take. By simply taking some time to put
things into perspective, you may find that cheap vacations are even more rewarding than you would have ever imagined them to be.

Inclusive Vacation Packages:

If you book a vacation that is supposed to be all inclusive, there are a few things that you should know. Though for the most part many things are taken care of for you, most people find that they wish they had thought ahead and known a few things before they left. These are not life or death situations, of course, but they can mean the difference between having an okay time and having a great time. Check a few things out before you go on your vacation. Inclusive vacation packages include a lot, but not everything.

One thing that surprises people is that some all inclusive vacation packages do not include all meals. There are some that do, but there are some that cover breakfast and dinner each night, but you are on your own for lunch. What does this mean? This means you should make sure you take enough money with you to get lunch for you and your entire family (if on a family vacation). You should also know more about the meals too, as you may want to get your own at times. That means taking even more with you. If breakfast is from seven to nine, and you don't wake up till noon, you are out of luck.

Snacking is something else you have to think about with all inclusive vacation packages. If you snack a lot at home, you are going to snack a lot during your vacation. If you are staying at a resort, they have stores and cafes through which you can buy snacks, but you are not going to like the prices. These items are going to be priced very high, and you may not find what you want. You may also find that the hours of operation are limited, so those midnight urges for a snack may have to go unanswered. Plan ahead for this.

All inclusive vacation packages often include the room for the entire stay as well as other activities in the area. If you are on a resort, you normally have full use of each thing without worry. However, some are a bit crafty, as they allow you to use the lake, but they will charge you a rental price for the canoe or the jet ski that you want to use. This is just another reason why you want to have some extra cash with you when you go on inclusive vacations. There are always going to be hidden things to pay for, or something a few miles away that catches your eye that is not included in your vacation.

The best way to know what to expect with all inclusive vacation packages is to talk to others who have gone on them. Look online for reviews of resorts. You can also call ahead and ask for specifics, or get your vacation package through a travel agent that can answer your questions for you. They want your repeat business, so they want you to have a good time. If they can answer questions that ensure you are totally prepared, they have done their job. All inclusive vacations are usually a great deal and a good way to save money, but watch out for those little extras you may want that can add up quickly.

Key West Bed and Breakfast:

Florida is consistently one of the top vacation destinations in America, and for good reason. The beautiful weather and family-friendly atmosphere make it a natural pick for parents with young children. Who doesn't remember a family outing to Disney World and other theme parks in the Orlando area? That seems to be a part of almost everyone's childhood. And don't forget about the beach scene. Daytona is the Spring Break capital of the U.S., attracting thousands of partying coeds every single year. But Florida has much more to offer than just Orlando and Daytona, which is why you should definitely consider visiting the keys on your next vacation.

The last time I was in the Sunshine State, I stayed at a Key West bed and breakfast and was able to spend a leisurely week taking in all the wonderful sights that famous locale has to offer. Being a big Ernest Hemingway fan, I was immediately attracted to Sloppy Joe's, the bar where the great scribe often stopped off to have a few drinks. Sure, it's not the same as it was in Hemingway's day, but the atmosphere is still superb. I should also mention that the Key West bed and breakfast I stayed at was just down the road from the Hemingway House, another of the city's top tourist attractions. That place is a must-see for most visitors as well.

If you're putting together a vacation package for sometime in the near future, I recommend staying at a Key West bed and breakfast instead of a regular hotel. For one thing, you're more likely to get better, more personalized service at these smaller establishments. I love getting inside tips on the best restaurants and bars, as well as interesting sights that are off the beaten path. The people running the Key West bed and breakfast I booked during my vacation really helped make the trip worthwhile.

Another reason you should choose a Key West bed and breakfast instead of a hotel is value. Your Key West bed and breakfast provides affordable accommodations, as well as home-cooked meals -- often for less than the cost of a hotel room alone. Obviously, breakfasts are included in the B&B's price, but you can request additional meals, too. These do run you a bit extra, but all in all you'll still fare better than if you ate at a restaurant every night.

I did so many things on my trip to the keys that I can barely remember everything. I took in several stunning sunsets, snorkeled and rode jet skis in the pristine waters, visited the southernmost point of the continental United States, enjoyed relaxing days on the beach, spent whole afternoons people watching from sidewalk cafes, and generally had a brilliant time. If you haven't been to Key West yet, you are missing out on an amazing time. Book your trip today!

How to Pack for International Travel:

Last Minute Vacation:

Sometimes, you just have to get away. Maybe it’s been way too long of a week at work and you need an extended weekend away with your family or even by yourself. Maybe you took a week off of work to just lounge around the house but now you want to get out of town instead. No matter what your situation is, a last minute vacation could be exactly what you need. How can you make plans on such short notice? It is actually rather easy. And, in some cases, you may just find that a last minute vacation is more financially possible than a getaway that is planned well in advance. How can it be less expensive? It is simple. Hotels and cruise lines, along with other places, don’t want to have empty rooms and empty seats. They’d rather put people in them for any price rather than lose the money that happens when no one is staying there or sitting in that plane seat.

Travel sites, such as Expedia or Travelocity, can help you plan out your last minute vacation perfectly. You may find those airline tickets are at a great discount. That hotel that you’ve been curious about might offer some great savings if planned at the last moment. There are also specific websites geared simply towards last minute vacations and helping you put everything into place. Of course, in order to carry out your last minute vacation, you may need to be a bit more flexible than what you normally would be. Perhaps you need to leave a day earlier or a day later in order to get some empty seats on that flight. The hotel may have a room available for only a few nights instead of the entire length of your getaway. Of course, being flexible can and will have its rewards. And, a last minute vacation is probably something that requires a flexible lifestyle anyway. Not many people can just pack up and leave on a moment’s notice for a last minute vacation. For some, if the vacation isn’t planned in advance and every single moment scheduled, it won’t happen. For others, a vacation isn’t meant to be structured.
Those are the individuals who can comfortably get away with a last minute vacation and enjoy it to its fullest.
So, you’re ready and willing to be flexible? You can start with checking out some travel sites and comparing availabilities and prices before you commit to any one particular deal. You may want to actually contact places on your own to see if you can negotiate any last minute vacation deals on your own. You may be able to negotiate a room for a better price than online.

Sometimes, it works better with privately owned places rather than large chain hotels. The owner of a bed and breakfast may be more willing to give in to last minute vacation deals in order to simply guarantee a profit for that particular day than a hotel would be. You may be able to get some extra perks included in some last minute vacation travel as well. All in all, if you’re able to be flexible enough to carry out a last minute vacation, you may find that it was not only well worth your willingness to be flexible, but incredibly easy on your wallet as well.

Affordable Los Angeles Tours:

Although I've had a chance to travel extensively overseas, I hardly go anywhere in the U.S. This omission wasn't something I planned out consciously; I guess I just figured I'd be one of those people driving all across the country in a massive motor home after I retire. But now a friend wants to visit southern California for a few days, and has asked me if I'd like to come along. I agreed, so now we're in the process of looking for affordable Los Angeles tours.

There are so many things to see and do in that area that booking one of the many Los Angeles tours available seems like the smartest move. This will allow us to pack our days with as many activities as we like, and not waste a moment that we're there. Fortunately both of us are the kind of people that like to get out and do things while on vacation, instead of just lounging at the hotel pool the entire time. A full itinerary will suit us perfectly.

In looking at a few of the top-selling Los Angeles tours out there, I've been able to get a pretty good idea of what the most popular SoCal tourist attractions are. Anything having to do with show business and celebrities is bound to be a big hit. For instance, it seems that many folks enjoy going on a movie studio tour at places like Universal and Warner Bros. And taking a bus tour to pass by movie star homes is also a popular pastime for L.A. visitors. I would love to do these things, so we're limiting our choices to the Los Angeles tours that include one or the other (preferably both).

For those with a bigger budget, luxury Los Angeles tours are the way to go. If you've dreamed of seeing L.A. by limo or helicopter, then you definitely need to book one of the upscale packages. You can do all of the same sightseeing as folks on the regular Los Angeles tours, but you'll be treated as a VIP every step of the way. You'll get premium access to all the best hot spots, and will undoubtedly have the time of your life. I wish I could afford to hang with the champagne and caviar set, but that won't be happening anytime soon!

At any rate, I'm excited about looking over the rest of the Los Angeles tours available so we can choose something both affordable and fun. I can't wait for my first trip to SoCal, and want to make it as memorable as possible. Even with our limited funds, I'm sure we're going to find an amazing L.A. vacation package that offers everything we want!

Reasons to Avoid Los Angeles Traffic:

The first thing you do when you wake up in the morning if you are a commuter in Los Angeles is to turn on your television or radio and tune in to the traffic report.

There are many cities around the country where traffic is bad but none can compare with rush hour traffic on one of L.A.’s massively traveled super highways.

Some will argue and say that San Francisco traffic with its outdated and obsolete freeway system is the worst. San Francisco after all is the only city to have actually torn down a freeway because it was interfering with scenic views of the bay.

But nothing can compare to the parking lot that is the 405 freeway each and every morning between the 110 interchange near Compton up until the abrupt end of the carpool lane near Culver City to the north. Whoever thought of this must have just escaped from an insane hospital. Imagine you are tooling along in the carpool lane (a great idea) and all of a sudden you come to a dead halt and have to merge over into the regular, completely stopped traffic and all because whoever designed this freeway decided while on a drunken binge to just end the carpool lane right in the place that it is most needed. By the way, the carpool lanes in Los Angeles are for two or more passengers, not the crazy three or more in some radical cities (San Francisco).

Some of the worst Los Angeles traffic occurs along the 405 and all the way up to the 101 interchange right after the Sherman Oaks Galleria mall. Coming over that hill is murder most days and even into the evening and on weekends. There is really no good time to make that trek and no soft hour unless it is in the middle of the night. But even at two or three a.m. you could find several lanes blocked for construction and traffic slowed to a trickle.

Los Angeles commuters who attempt to navigate through Los Angeles traffic are at the mercy of construction crews at any time of night or day. It seems that CalTrans has been working on those freeway expansion projects for the past forty years in a row, with no end or relief in sight.

The other thing that causes Los Angeles traffic to be so brutally slow at all hours are the hundreds of fender benders and serious accidents that occur with great regularity. It is a rare day that there are no accidents and freeway travel is smoother than usual on those days. When accidents do happen, which is all the time and every single day, traffic comes to a complete stand still, sometimes for hours. It is a wonder that any one in Los Angeles ever gets to work on time.

The misguided transit system plays a large part in the congestion. The green, blue, and red line trolleys that take you all the way downtown were a good concept, but they were poorly executed. They require that you change stations in the middle of some of the toughest and most crime-ridden neighborhoods in the city. This type of commuting is dangerous and it sometimes feels like you are taking your life in your hands.

Why Tourist Destinations Are Not Always A Bad Idea:

You may hear that if you go see a country, you have to go off the beaten path to truly see what the country is like. This can help you avoid crowds and the more obvious and expensive tourist traps that can make a vacation rather bland. However, there is something to be said for going to certain tourist destinations. It depends on where you are going, what you want to do, and how experienced a traveler you really are. You always want your vacation to be safe above all else, which is something you should remember.

Tourists destinations are such because they do have a lot to offer. These are the more obvious sights that people want to see in each country. Perhaps these tourist destinations include the pyramids in Egypt or the Eiffel Tower in France. Most people want to see these, but they know these places can be crowded and most of the lodging and food choices nearby are going to be overly expensive. Once you have seen them, perhaps then you want to go see other things that are not so much a tourist attraction.

There are many reasons why tourist destinations are not always a good choice for some travelers. Some feel no need to see the major sights of the world because they feel the more hidden places are the ones that truly show the heart of a country or city. Others want to go on vacation to get away from the crowds, not run into more of them. Still others are going to see family or for a very specific reason and want to avoid the tourist destinations at all costs. Perhaps someone chasing down clues to their ancestry will go where the records are and run into very few touristy spots while on vacation.

There are definite pros to taking the tourist destinations route when you want to go away from home for a vacation. For one, you already know what you are getting and what you are going to see. If you plan through a travel agent, they can help you understand how much things are going to cost so you are aware before you arrive. If you are interested in meeting new people, finding tourist destinations can be helpful with that. You may meet as many tourists as locals, but you may find some great travel companions for the future if you travel is something you love to do.

On a more practical level, tourist destinations are just plain safer. While this is not always something most think about on vacations, going off the beaten path can actually be quite dangerous in some countries. It is not unheard of for tourists that have wandered away to be beaten, abducted, or worse. A mugging can be scary, but becomes downright dangerous when everything including your passport is taken from you. If your children are traveling alone for the first time, insist on tourist destinations. If you tend to be too trusting, insist on them for yourself as well.

International Travel - What Documents to Take:

Great Sightseeing and Adventure Tours in Alaska:

One of the goals on my "bucket list" is to visit all 50 states at some point. I've covered a bunch of them already, and have been eyeing the Last Frontier for my next journey. I've heard about a lot about all the different sightseeing tours in Alaska that are available to travelers, so right now I'm trying to sift through some information to decide which package would be best for me.

Part of my problem is I'm not really sure what I want to do yet. Our 49th state just has so many amazing activities to offer visitors that it's hard to narrow down the choices and settle on a few fun things that would fit into my itinerary. I'll probably only go for a week at the most, so I definitely have to limit my outings. Many tours in Alaska require more than a week because they have to cover such vast distances, but I won't have that much time at my disposal.

I know that whale watching tours in Alaska are very popular, and this is something that's a must for my trip. I've never seen any whales except for one or two in captivity at places like Sea World and city aquariums. Seeing these majestic creatures in the wild, where they have the freedom to swim, romp, and roam wherever they want, would be simply awesome! I certainly don't want to miss out on something like this.

Glacier cruises go hand-in-hand with whale watching tours in Alaska. No one can go that close to Prince William Sound without venturing out on the water for a closer view of the massive glaciers in the area. I've heard of the breathtaking beauty of these glaciers and have seen pictures on the Internet, but I'm sure nothing can compare to seeing the structures in person.

There are tours in Alaska that involve more active pursuits than simply taking in some beautiful sights. For example, I can go hiking in world-famous Denali National Park, where I can push myself to the brink physically and perhaps meet some wildlife along the way. I've heard this kind of adventure can be a somewhat dangerous proposition, however, so I'll have to make sure I'm properly geared up before even attempting such a thing.

Besides Denali, I might also want to check out the Kenai Fjords for more waterfalls, glaciers, and stunning vistas, or go fishing or kayaking somewhere inland. Really, there seems to be no shortage of things to do on the trip.

After reading through some info about tours in Alaska, I'm not any closer to making a final decision. There are so many wonderful possibilities that it would be a shame to leave out any adventures. Maybe the only answer is to try to wrangle another week off from work so I can fit everything in!

Travel Tips - the Top 5 Travel Scams:

Here we are in the middle of the summer holiday travel rush season - a time when everyone is understandably desperate for openings on crowded flights and in booked-up hotels for wonderful holiday destinations all over. In their anxiety trying to snag the last ticket and that at a bargain, people understandably dispense with a little bit of their regular sense of caution . When people are in a rush for something and feel entitled to a little lost caution, you can be sure that there will be scam artists waiting to take advantage of the situation. Here are some travel tips on the kinds of scams that operates around the holiday travel season. You see, you aren't the only one around this hopes for a holiday bargain - its bargain season for the crooks too.

1. You receive an e-mail or regular mail flyer that promotes a special travel deal. The sender claims to be a major travel agency, and offers you a special way to snag a special deal. They ask you to become a kind of home-based travel agent for them; they offer to take care of all the messy details at the backend. For a modest thousand-dollar fee, they'll train you in the art of being a travel agent, and give you your travel agent ID card. Once you have that card, you'll find yourself eligible for any number of the special deals that are open only to travel agents. Now this is a scam; the ID card they gave you is a complete scam too. And every hotel or airline you might approach knowsall about them. And if it were a legitimate ID card, you would still not have any better a time with your reservations.

2. How about the one where some person advertises on Craigslist and claims to have a timeshare somewhere that he doesn't want anymore. He'll try to charge you a hefty sum for it. They'll take your money, and you'll never see your timeshare. Never accept a timeshare sale where you have to actually pay anything more than a couple of dollars. It's always enough if you just take over their timeshare commitment and relieve them of the contract they are stucl in that requires them to keep paying the company.

3. People try to sell you insurance to cover your losses should you ever need to cancel a trip you had reservations for. It sounds pretty good; except that it is funny insurance, and you'll never see any money. Of course there are real licensed insurance deals for this kind of thing; go to a proper insurance website; or try InsureMyTrip.com to check for travel tips around for the best travel insurance companies.

4. There are travel services that operate around that don't accept credit cards; they only accept direct funds transfers. They usually offer you travel deals that are too good to be true; mostly because they are. Who in this day and age would buy a ticket that offered them no proof for what they spent? They wouldn't have any proof of payment to claim as a deduction on their IRS forms. The bottom line is, asw any article on travel tips avoid scams will tell you, never deal with a merchant who will not accept credit cards.

5. Here's something you won't read about it in most articles on travel tips - it's the new future travel timeshare-like system. They ask you to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a permanent spot on their lists for free travel and stay around the world to the end of time. People go and sign right up, and then wait forever for travel arrangements that never occur. Why would anyone believe this? Those people have nothing. Stay away from future travel clubs like this; unless you actually know someone who knows by experience .

International Travel - How to Save for & During your Trip:

The Top Travel Websites - for Flights, Hotels, Car Rentals and Travel Advice:

It is as if the Internet was made for travel research; so central to the very concept of travel has the Internet become. And it's only become more so with the pressures of the recession squeezing the travel industry mercilessly, trying to produce the best deals possible in today's low liquidity customer scene. Travel information is a lucrative dot com business to be in, and you'd see this by the abundance of travel assistance services on the Internet offering deals on airfares, hotel rooms, car rentals, vacation packages and travel advice in general. Let's look at a selection of travel websites that offer the best services.

Flight reservations - Insidetrip.com is one of the most innovative travel websites around. They give you great information on the flight deals there are to be had; only, they don't rank deals in anything like the way other regular airline reservation websites do. When you try to search for flight deals on a particular route, they tell you everything about the flights they list - how much luggage you get to carry, what kind of food service you have, how punctual airline is, how far you walk to the boarding gate and so on. Airfare Watchdog is another useful service. It is for people who don't really mind when they travel, just as long as they get to travel at a very competitive price. The website hires a bunch of people to keep scanning all the airline websites to look for information on their sale deals. Their staff also hold rewards memberships on all the airlines to be able to get promotional codes and offers to tell their users about. And they list every small airline in the country, even low cost airlines like JetBlue.

Hotels - TripAdvisor is the gold standard in user generated hotel reviews around the world. They have tens of millions of reviews from customers at hotels, and they have many professional reviewers too. Hotels complain bitterly about how every one of their slipups appears on the website for all to see; and travelers take a great joy in posting the worst complaints they have about their experiences at various hotels. Hotels.com lists more than 50,000 hotel properties around the world. They have great bargains for last-minute bookings, and in general, the prices they list are very conservative. Or how about HomeExchange.com, the site that has thousands of listings for people who are willing to open their homes to you when you travel in their country; all in return for having you opening up your home to travelers just like yourself.

Car Rentals - Among travel websites that deal in car rentals, Hotwire.com is a great concept - they collect data from several car rental firms they partner with, Enterprise and Budget among them, and sift through them to publish the best deals on offer at any given time. Hotwire also offers something called a blind booking special. This is a little tactic that helps them sidestep customer resistance in the face of the unfamiliar. They publish a hot deal with information of what you need to pay, and what you get; you just don't see what company provides the deal. There's nothing wrong with this; a Camry is a Camry, no matter what car rental company you get it from. And for international car rental bargains, try AutoEurope.com. They'll help you make competitive rentals across dozens of countries around the world; and if you have a problem at your destination with the rented car, AutoEurope acts as your go-between in dealing with the rental company in that country.

Vacation Packages: - A vacation package as a big-ticket item; not just because it ends up costing a lot, but also because luxury vacations are just so deeply important to people. Try CruiseComplete.com, for help navigating the offers you have your pick of from hundreds of travel agents around the country. And Expedia.comstill offers some of the best airfare- hotel- car packages around.

TripAdvisor, as long as it's been around, has had no real competition in the travel advice market so far. But that apart, try WebFlyer.com and Points.com to find out about the ways use your frequent flyer miles over different programs; and to avoid flight delays, try Delays.com; it does exactly what its name suggests - it gives you e-mail and text message alerts about flight delays; try TravelGuard.com for travel insurance information too.

Universal Studios Theme Parks:

Universal studios theme parks, operated by the Universal Studios, an NBC Universal division are based around movies that the company has produced over the years. Currently, open parks include Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Japan theme parks. The idea of Universal Studios theme parks started back in 1981. While Universal had a Studio Tour that was fairly popular back in the days, they wanted something a bit bigger. They wanted a working studio that could double as a theme park and thus the concept of Universal Studios theme parks was born.

The first theme park from Universal Studios was opened in 1990. The early days of Universal Studios theme parks were not impressive. The attractions did not prove to be as effective as it had been expected. Long line delays caused many people to vow never to return. In fact the 2 theme parks, Earthquake and Kongfrontation, the most popular attractions at the time of their opening failed. JAWS likewise suffered a similar fate. As a result of these failures, Universal Studios resulted in handing out free passes as apologies to the disappointed fans. However, damage had already been done and it would take a number of years before Universal could recover from these catastrophic failures.

By 1996, a massive expansion was taking place with the introduction of a second theme park, a new hotel and an entertainment district that were launched almost simultaneously in 1999. The new theme park that was entitled “Islands of Adventure” made all aware that universal Studios was capable of delivering the same level of excitement to a park as Disney. In fact, some of the creative talent behind the highly successful Disney-MGM studios was responsible for Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The theme park was no “kiddie park” as it was able to deliver high energy coasters and thrill rides that were targeted at an older audience.

In the same year 1999, Universal Studios theme parks division came up with the CityWalk, an entertainment district similar to Disney’s Pleasure Island and luxury hotel Portofino Bay. Now, the district has 3 hotel properties, 2 theme parks and an entertainment district that seems to rival Disney. With an additional 2000 acres, Universal is far from finished. They plan to develop 2 additional theme parks and more resorts. If you are looking to experience the world of the spine-tingling excitement of films like Jaws, Twister and out-of-this-world adventure with movies like E.T., Men In Black and Back to the Future, Universal Studio theme parks is the place to relive those fantasies.
