Traveling To Venice, Italy, With The Family

Italy is known for its fine wines and food, spectacular art galleries and beautiful churches, all of which appeal to plenty of adult travelers, but may not immediately capture the interests of kids. However, this European gem isn't a lost cause for the traveling family. In fact, Italy can be as great a destination for kids as it is for adults.

The most important thing to remember when traveling to Italy with kids, especially younger ones, is to change things up a bit. Churches and galleries may be interesting, but eventually children will get bored and want to do something else. On your sightseeing adventures, look for variety. Don't do three days of nothing but churches or museums, but try heading to some fun ruins, taking a gondola ride or exploring outdoor markets. Variety is good for everyone, and it will help you work better with a child's limited attention span.

Traveling To Puglia, Italy, With The Family

In addition, look specifically for family-friendly activities. You may not think of amusement parks, beaches and zoos when you think of Italy, but in fact the country is filled with superb ones. For example, Puglia is home to ZooSafari, a safari-style experience that kids and adults alike will love. You can also head to Genoa for a visit to an extensive and fascinating aquarium, as well as a place to hire motor boats for a fun cruise.

When traveling as a family to Italy, it can be easier and more economical to stay in apartment-style accommodations rather than a traditional hotel. Not only will you have more space to spread out and let the kids play together, but you can also better accommodate picky eaters. If you don't want to cook, there are also plenty of family restaurant-style trattorias that you can try.

At the end of the day, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Italy. It can be an exceptional place for adults and kids alike. Not only is there the promise of smooth, sweet gelato to enjoy, but there's also the pizza and pasta. Kids may surprise you, as well. You never know what they will and won't find interesting, so don't hesitate to try Italy on your next family vacation.
